Friction Stir Welding Heat Sink

Friction stir welding heat sink is a solid state welding method to realize welding. Under pressure, it is in a constant or increasing pressure and torque under the action of, the use of relative motion between the contact ends in friction surface friction heat and plastic deformation heat and its nearby area, and adjacent areas temperature rises to close to but generally lower than the melting point temperature range, reduce deformation resistance of materials, to enhance plasticity, interface of oxidation film and broken, in upset forging pressure under the action of, along with the material to produce plastic deformation and flow through the interface of molecular diffusion and recrystallization and implement solid-state welding method of welding.



Friction stir welded heat sink usually consists of the following four steps:
1. Mechanical energy is converted into heat energy.
2. Plastic deformation of materials.
3. Forging pressure under thermoplasticity.
4. Intermolecular diffusion recrystallization.

The biggest difference between friction welding and traditional fusion welding is that during the whole welding process, the temperature reached by the energy increase of the metal to be welded does not reach its melting point, that is, the metal is forged solid phase connection in the thermoplastic state.
Compared with traditional fusion welding, LORI friction stir welded has high welding joint quality -- it can reach the strength of welding seam and matrix material, high welding efficiency, stable quality, good consistency, and can realize welding of different materials.
